Rotary International is a service organization that is aimed at bringing together professional and commercial leaders with the goal of fostering better relationships and supporting the health and growth of the greater community. Those who join this club are held to a strict standard, given that the duty of serving others takes precedence over serving the self. This is a secular organization and thus, it does not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, age or gender.

To be come a member of Rotary normally requires a sponsor, however anyone interested in joining should contact their local club. Membership is open to all interested parties who have something to contribute. It is a non-religious, non-political and multi-ethnic organization and welcomes men and women who want to make a difference to anyone anywhere in the world.

This organization has more than 1.2 million members throughout the world. Those who belong to this organization will often host social functions and these gathering will usually meet once per week. These can be as simple as breakfast, lunch or dinner meeting in which goals and activities are discussed. These meetings can be held in public places but are frequently held at member lodges. They offer exchanges and scholarships, literacy programs and many other resources and activities for community enrichment.

In all professional and commercial endeavors, Rotarian's value strong ethical and moral standards. They intend this to help promote health and further peace. They additionally value professions that supply supply value to the community.

Promoting increased international understanding is something else that Rotarian's do as well as increased unity and peace. They can do this through their massive, worldwide networks of professionals who hold memberships in different organization chapters. Each member is expected to hold the same service ideals.

The headquarters for Rotary International are situated in Evanston, Illinois. This club was established in the year 1905 and boast branches in many nations throughout the world as well as many different official languages. The founding Rotarian was Paul P. Harris.
