7 Beliefs That Are Connected To The Weeping Statue Mary

By Gary Rogers

Recently, a molding of the mother of God was found shedding tears in a Catholic church located in Hobbs, NM. The weeping statue Mary astonished so many onlookers. People are still curious to know why the molding is crying. For some, this is the first time they have seen a molding shed tears. It is thus considered a miracle to many. So many people are traveling from far places so that they can watch the crying sculpture. It has turned to an attraction even to tourists from other states. Believers are gathering around the molding to pray to the Virgin to intercede for them.

The tears that the molding is shedding have been found to be balsam and olive oil. This is the mixture that is usually used to carry out certain catholic rituals after blessings from a bishop. That is why some onlookers gather to pray for blessing and healing because this is a miracle to them. No one knows why the molding is shedding tears up to now.

This is not the first claim of a crying molding. There have been similar claims throughout the history of Catholicism. For example, the Madonna molding has been crying since 1953. This is a sculpture that is made using plaster and is very significant to Catholics. Additionally, several other sculptures have been reported to be shedding tears in Macedonia, Argentina, and Hungary to mention just a few.

Unless you understand the connection between miracles and the Virgin, you cannot possibly understand the religious meaning of the crying statues. Catholics believe that the Virgin begot Jesus. Therefore, she is also Gods mother. Hence, the Catholic believers believe that she is so powerful. She thus has the power to perform miracles. Additionally, the supernatural events are all being attributed to the virgin.

To add on that, the Catholic believers believe that the power of the intercession of the virgin led to the Lepanto Battle victory. Therefore, believers pray for forgiveness through the virgin. They believe that when the virgin interceded for you, you will be victorious in all your battles. More so, you will be strong in faith and continue being a victor every day.

The tears that she sheds are very significant to Catholic believers. She cries because of the sins committed by the world and prays for the entire world. She also cries because of the pain she persevered during her days on the earth. These sorrows are referred to as the seven sorrows of the Virgin. These sorrows include the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and His death.

The flowery scent of both balsam oil and olive oil are used to evoke the virgin. She is called the flower that has no thorns. That is why these two oils are essential in the faith of Catholicism. It is not unusual to see believers gathering around these sculptures praying.

Nonetheless, when such an occurrence takes place, the local bishop must do some investigations. The bishop can do the investigation alone or appoint a committee. This committee will then investigate the occurrence with the guidance of Vatican doctrines standards. They thus evaluate whether the phenomenon is supernatural or not.
