By Anna Ellis

This can be viewed as a group of people or a place where people gather, but usually, it should have a meaning which reflects a gathering of people. The following are the purposes of SDA church McKinleyVille

Worship purpose. Worship is both private and public, and for every Christian the both are important. They are a way in which people express their gratitude to their creator. People sing, dance and pray to express their exaltation to God. It is a way of enabling people to appreciate the work of God in their life. Worship is also offered in the form of tithes and other thanksgiving offerings such as offertories. People, therefore, gather every Saturday to offer worship to God.

Spiritual discipline. Spiritual discipline is very important in the life of every Christian. It is a place whereby people go to be equipped with rules and guidelines to a spiritual being. They read the word, and the word is preached to them. The Bible contains rules and regulations of a Christian life and hence through it, people learn how to conduct themselves as believers. Every Christian aims to inherit God kingdom and following these rules such as the ten commandments is a way to ensure that.

Discipleship. Discipleship is showcased by behaving like Christ and his disciples. It involves preaching the Christ word to people and helping them accept salvation. This gathering of people acts as the disciples to bringing many others to Christ. People are taught how to become leaders and how to have good leadership skills. They help each other and teach the word of Christ as per the Bible.

Fellowship. The fellowship is means of sharing. It can be material sharing or spiritual sharing. Material sharing is where Christians offer to help the needy with material things such as food, clothing, and shelter. While spiritual sharing is the path in which Christians share with each other the word of God to help them grow spiritually. Therefore, fellowship helps both the Christians and those who are not Christians.

Service. The church is a place where people learn the art of service. Service through leadership and service which is provided through the offering. They believe that service to humankind is service to God. That is why they volunteer to help the needy by offering and also by serving others.

Evangelism. The word of God is preached so that everyone may hear it. The disciples were commanded by Jesus to go and evangelize to the world. Therefore as a commandment offered by Jesus, the church evangelizes to ensure that everyone knows what the Bible wants them. They become fishers of men.

Role model. It serves as a watching tower that everyone is required to emulate to lead a holy life. It acts as a form of leadership to Christian life. People tend to compare themselves with it to see whether they lead a life that is holy.
