The Problems Facing The Jewish Interfaith Marriage

By Jerry Baker

With the rise in the rates of intermarriages among the members of different ethnic groups, there are some issues that the partners in the Jewish interfaith marriage face. Many people become friends at first and end up developing some affection towards each other thus loving themselves. At this stage, there is need of a union between them through a wedding, but there are some items that may hinder them from marrying one another or even face some difficulties after the wedding.

After marrying from another religious group, most people develop the feeling that they have betrayed their religion and abandoned it. This feeling always occurs when the family members from both parties are against the issue of their children marrying. Later, there will arise some sorts of misunderstanding that may affect the relationship of the two for a very long time.

One partner is usually treated unfairly since the marriage will involve one person leaving his faith and ends up joining another religion. There comes a time when reality strikes the members of his family that their child will no longer be worshiping from the same belief as he and here a problem arises. The partner will have many difficulties coping up with the other faith.

The state of a country depends on the upward mobility of its education level. This poses an immense challenge to the just married people when they will be settling down. The socio-economic position of the country they will be living in may differ from the one they are used to thus this will be a challenge to them copying up with that particular situation.

Support from friends and family is compulsory and essential in any relationship. In the first stages of the relationship of people from different creed, most friends are always against it because the partner is a different religion. This will end up bringing a lot of challenges where the couple will not be trusting each other. Thus it will end up destroying their relationships. To avoid this, there is a need for understanding among the members before the wedding.

Also, they have challenges understanding each other since their religion differ. Most people are always controlled by the laws and the rules of their religions. The case that the rules differ from one religion to another may bring about the issues where they cannot understand each other well just because one is not used to the regulations of other religions.

Many people cannot think outside the box of what they are used to think. That challenge is always inevitable among the years of these partners. These might create a problem-solving them thus reducing the level of patience of some people. Some may wind up not accepting and appreciating the difference that occurs between the partners.

After sometimes, the two may wind up having children. This will be a big problem because they may fail to decide on which religion will they worshiped and brought up using it. This will also bring rise to conflicts between the duo.
