The Process Of Seeking Christian Prophetic Guidance

By Harriet Porter

A lot of Christians are at a loss on what to do as they walk in faith with God. When this happens, it is necessary to look for Christian prophetic guidance. When you believe in Christ you do not have to have the gift of prophesying for a chance to talk with God. Moreover, being human is enough as long as your life matches His rule.

Some believers get prophecies as it is the plan of God for the purpose of their lives. Prophetic guidance is to help believers be able to see the intent and purpose for their lives from God. When the prophecy has been revealed, they can walk in accordance to it in order to fulfill the purpose of God. This strengthens their faith.

All believers and followers of Christ have the ability to hear from God. This ability is made possible when there is a strong relationship between you and the Creator through active powerful prayers. When this has been achieved, you can receive prophetic guidance. To receive prophecies one must have a good relationship with God with a special connection.

Many people think that prophecy is predicting the future and its events. This is however not true as it is the revelation of the heart and love of God upon his people. It also seeks to remind people of His will for their lives. Prophets are not meant to serve individuals, they serve the church. The Holy Spirit speaks first and then a prophecy confirms the message.

When prophecy is revealed it is not alone, its preceded by the same message from the Helper. The Helper is the Holy Spirit and the gift from Christ he had promised on his day of ascension to Heaven. The helper helps Christians walk upright in God. This is in the scriptures that people who walk with the Spirit are never confused about what to do as He guides them through anointing to tell right from wrong.

Christ and the apostles warned Christians about false prophets during the last days. To be able to discern whether the prophet is true or false we must have the Holy Spirit in us. When you hear a prophetic message from the prophet that you have not yet heard from the Spirit you need to be very cautious about it. This is because the prophets only confirm what the Spirit is saying and not create their own message.

It is against the bible to seek your answers solely from the prophets. True followers of Christ have the Spirit to help them hear the word of God and understand it. No one should substitute this important role of the Helper. Besides, as the scriptures say, the word is perfect and also complete in itself. It is perfect to counsel, convict and guide everyone who reads it. Messages from God could also come through others.

Remember to be cautious of your actions under prophetic guidance as it should be reflected in them. In addition, you should you use them to spread the Gospel further through your lifestyle. The challenge is to be holy as Christ is and use His gifts to teach others be like him. The bible should always be the reference for every step you make in your life always after a prayer that is made in faith.
