Fun Activities For Guests Attending A Wedding In Maui

By Ella Hemmings

A Maui destination wedding is an exciting event for both you and your guests. However, because your guests are traveling far for this ceremony, they probably will be staying in Maui for several days or even a week. It's important that the bridal couple offer their guests some helpful tips about local excursions and activities, so that they can truly make the most out of their time on the island.

To make their stay a bit easier, purchase a beach bag for each guest or couple and fill it with helpful items such as a detailed itinerary with information about the ceremony and reception as well as any other planned events and excursions. Let them know when free time is available, and give them some suggestions for how to spend their leisure time. Also include some helpful amenities such as sunscreen, some snacks, bottled water and maybe a voucher for a local bar or restaurant. Information about where to find a drug store, clothing store and grocery store also can be very helpful, as well as shuttle and taxi information.

Obviously many people would enjoy simply lounging on the seashore, but there are some logistics in regards to even this simple activity. For instance, too which beach should guests go? Maui has a many excellent beaches, but for someone unfamiliar to the area, it is helpful to provide your guests with a few examples and provide information about how to get there. Of course, if you will all be staying a resort, the resort probably includes swimming pools, beach access, towels and beach chairs.

If your guests have an entire day free, consider booking a tour that takes them along the Road to Hana. While this 68-mile stretch of road can take an entire day to traverse, it's a wildly popular excursion and a great way to spend a day in Maui. The journey is almost entirely within a tropical rainforest and provides opportunities to hike to waterfalls, walk through jungles and enjoy some of the most beautiful coastline on earth. While you can rent a car and do the drive yourself, taking a tour bus frees you up to simply enjoy the scenery. Most tour companies provide food, which is important because food is only available at the beginning and the end of the journey.

You might not have enough time for all-day trek to Hana, but there are many other ideas to think about. For instance a sunset cocktail cruise or a whale-watching trip is a great way to spend a few hours, and this would be an excellent activity for your whole wedding party. Horseback riding, ATV tours, kayaking trips and parasailing are just a sample of other items guests might enjoy.

When planning your destination wedding, it is best to let a Maui wedding planner handle all of the details for you. A wedding planning service such as Love Maui Weddings can find the perfect spot for your ceremony, book the minister, find a photographer and florist, hire musicians and take care of many other important details.
