Things To Note About The Old Covenant Vs New Covenant

By Marci Glover

The Bible is considered one of the most important spiritual books in the world. This is especially so for Christians. The book is full of promises that exist from a long time ago. The book itself has been translated into numerous languages. To discover these promises left for mankind and all believers, then you have to read the bible. This is where you will be able to learn about the old covenant vs new covenant.

One you become a constant reader of the word. You will be quick to note that, the former Testament was actually written to the children of Israelites when they were in the wilderness. However, the current testament was written after the death of Christ and mostly is laws are directed to the current generations. It teaches every Christian about the best Christian values that everyone should embrace. It also reminds Christians to embrace one another as Christians regardless of the tribe, social status and political affiliations.

As you continue reading the book of law, you will realize that the most legend in the former testament was Moses. He led the children of Israel from the hands of Egyptian to the land of Canaan. However, He is known to be a man of temper as he destroyed the 10 commandments, which he was, gives by God at Mount Sinai.

Most people associate the former agreement with death and numerous killings. Actually, this was happening especially if you messed with the laws that Moses gave to the children of Israel. Some simple mistakes would cost your life if you did not take enough care. Nonetheless, the current agreement and promise is full of life. This is due to the forgiving nature of Christ who died to set people free.

The former testament records of the harsh punishments that lawbreakers were subjected to. A lot of death and suffering is recorded due to brutal laws. However, in the current generation, Jesus came to save the captive of sin. He criticizes harsh laws that did not add up to morality. At one point, he even challenged a mob that was ready to stone a woman who was caught committing adultery. He came to rescue the slaves of sin.

The former agreement meant that your sins would be exposed and then you would be shunned and judged over your wrong doings. Most people were never given the chance to denounce their wicked ways and repent. Instead, they were exposed to immediate judgment. In contrast, Christ came to cover your sins and absorb you of the guilt through repentance and forgiveness.

Another contrasting thing between the two agreements that should be noted is their determination of human life. Faith as can be realized is currently part of ways to access heaven. In the olden days, people lived through their acts and hence they believed that this was the only way through which they could go to heaven. Faith however is part of the current agreement and serves as a clear way through which man can access heaven.

Both the books emphasizes on the importance of having faith as a Christian. They direct that faith believes something you have not seen. When the life problems assail and you feel like giving up, you should cling on to faith because only when you will experience the saving power of God
