How To Deal With Anger After She Cheated On You

By Jeraldine Hemongala

If you find out that your wife has been unfaithful to you, a number of things might go through your mind, some of them probably related to revenge. Then again you might feel depressed, or angry, or all of these emotions at once, which is entirely possible.

There are constructive ways to deal with the anger you feel after being cheated on. Keep in mind that anger is often really "hurt" in disguise. The two emotions are very similar and often anger is a way to mask the hurt you harbor inside. So address the pain and you will also be addressing the anger.

You can do this in several ways.

1. Whether it's your best friend, a counselor, someone from a support group, your next door neighbor, or heck even your plumber, for goodness sake talk to someone and let that anger out. Men are not known to talk about their feelings, but in this case, releasing all those pent up anger and questions looming in your head through talking will not make you less of a man.

1. You need to find someone to talk to, plain and simple. It could be a friend, it could be a counselor, or it could be someone from a support group. Maybe you could even speak to your local bartender. If you are a man, you might not feel comfortable talking about your feelings, but at some point you need to release the anger and talk through your problems. You will feel much better, and you can trust us when we say it will not make you less of a man.

2. Another way to get the anger out is to write your feelings down. Again, this comes easier for some than others. The point is to get those feelings on the outside; to work out what you are thinking and feeling so you can move on to deciding what you want. Can you forgive and forget? Is the relationship worth salvaging? Is your wife willing to try again? Are you?

2. It might seem like a waste of time, but a depressed and angry person should do this on a regular basis as it benefits them greatly. Through exercise, positive hormones are released which will help to fight stress. In addition to that, your pent up energy will be released. Also, exercise will help you to feel better about yourself!

4. An act of infidelity is bound to do a number on your feelings of self worth, but it does NOT have to be the end. If the marital relationship matters to you - and to her - together you can move beyond the crisis and have a full and happy life together. However, it takes communication and a mutual commitment in order to do this.

Valuable lessons can be learned if you are objective about the incident. Keep in mind that she is, like you, an imperfect human being. She blew it. The important thing is she still loves you and wants this relationship to work.

4. So she cheated, get over it. It is not the end of the world though in the beginning it may seem that way. The more you realize that there is life after being betrayed with or without her, the more you will look forward to a happier future.

Yes, she cheated, and it's terrible, but it's not the end of the world. The more you prepare yourself to move on, the easier it will be. You will be happier, and your future will be brighter. Perhaps you will build an even better marriage in the future! Then again, moving on entirely might be on the menu.
